In 10th grade Dan was put in “Stupid” English. That’s what he called it. All his friends went to High English. This was based on a placement test. Dan knew he was smart yet he didn’t understand why he was placed in “Stupid” English or why it took him 5 times longer to do his homework than it took his friends. Although Dan knew something was up with his reading skills he truly didn’t figure it out until college. Dan reads at an amazingly slow speed. he would often lose his place or drift off in his mind as he read. He discovered that vigorous exercise and juggling helped keep a cool head.

Dan learned to juggle during the summer before beginning 10th grade. He learned rather quickly and enjoyed it a lot! There was no such thing as YouTube so he learned from just being creative and from getting books from the library. Dan’s spelling was never very good. In fact he had spelling tests in his 10th grade English class. By the middle of the school year Dan’s spelling had improved so much that he was nominated to represent his English class in the annual 10th Grade Spelling Bee.

Just before Dan’s 18th Birthday he enrolled in a trial course of Tae Kwon Do, the Korean martial art. Just like juggling Dan was hooked. He trained for 14 years before being sidelined due to injury. He attained the 3rd degree black belt level. He also taught numerous classes and saw the benefits of martial arts in children with ADD and ADHA issues.

In November of 2006 Dan completed a course offered by Direct Learning Ltd. He received a certificate in the Teaching of Children with Dyslexia. To further his movement and brain studies, Dan took the beginning course offered by a  Brain Gym teacher in Madison, WI.

Dan does not have a degree in neuroscience. He has a gift from God that needs to be shared. Dan has taught 1,000’s of people how to juggle. Dan Kirk has been performing as a professional juggling entertainer full-time since 1993. He has seen the benefits and has seen numerous studies done on the topic. Dan offers an option in the brain training realm. Please see a clinical neuroscientist, psychiatrist and/or brain imaging experts for proper diagnosis and/or treatment.
